2015 in review
- Just before the new year we spent a night in Sutherland to do some star gazing
- We watched the sunset set on 2014 and tried to see the sunrise rise from Table Mountain but getting 2 kids dressed and out of the house before sunrise is nearly impossible.
- Then we picked strawberries at Polkadraai.
- We then did a road trip around the Peninsula which led us to the Slangkop Lighthouse which we could see the inside of because of its silly opening hours.
- The desire to see the inside of a lighthouse led us to take a trip to Cape Agulhas which had us drive through Napier so we obviously had to stop off and buy a gorgeous stained glass lampshade.
- Before we knew it, it was February so we celebrated Valentine’s Day as a family at Park Inn Cape Town.
- That same weekend we did a sunset cruise in Table Bay on Esperance and fed the squirrels in The Company Gardens.
- We ended February off with a camp out on an apple farm in Elgin #DiscoverOverberg where we picked apples and rode on tractors.
- On our way home we detoured through Betty’s Bay in our bid to visit Stoney Point Penguin colony.
- That led us to Gordon’s Bay where we HAD to stop for the best ice cream at Uncle Barry’s.
- We hiked to Macclear’s Beacon on Table Mountain (AFTER we took the cable car up to the top). I’m not crazy enough to climb Table Mountain yet.
- We went to the Getaway Show in Somerset West to find some new places to visit in 2016 and stopped off to splash in the water (and get sand blasted in the wind) on the beach.
- Then it was time to watch movies at the Aquarium where the kids had a blast watching a Dolphin Tale 2 and munching on popcorn.
- We spent Easter Monday hunting for the Easter Bunny on the top of Table Mountain and took some gorgeous pics of the views.
- In April we went on the first #instawalk and took pictures of some amazing performance artists, after feeding the squirrels, of course.
- We spent the Freedom Day long weekend at Petervale Farm where we milked cows, fed chickens and lost engagement rings L.
- At this point we were physically and financially exhausted so we filled our weekends with Green Point Urban Park, the Sea Point Promenade and more Table Mountain. Thank goodness for our Cable Cards!
- In May we visited the Zip Zap Circus and the kids spent the rest of the weekend pretending to be acrobats.
We went on an adventure to Zip Zap circus. We sore this and much more.Read all about it here http://www.tazzdiscovers.com/tazzdiscovers-zip-zip-circus/

- One rainy public holiday in June we found a coffee shop we wanted to try in Paarl and took a mini roadtrip to get there.
- Later that month we decided to go and visit the dinosaurs at Kirstenbosch and talk to the kids about extinction.
Here is some incentive to take the kids to Kirstenbosch these holidays. Kids don’t pay to enter the Gardens during school holidays 😉 http://www.tazzdiscovers.com/kirstenbosch-national-botanical-gardens/

- On our way home we detoured into Cape Town CBD and visited Charly’s Bakery for the first time. Z1 was so star struck to meet Jackie ;).
- July was incredibly exciting with our first media educational in McGregor #discovermcgregor
- The roadtrip is always half the fun so we stopped off at the Pampoenstalletjie to see how big pumpkins could get.
- Our #DiscoverMcGregor trip ended with a heart breaking visit to the Eseltjiesrus Donkey Sanctuary.
- Later on in the month we visited the Science Centre and the kids would have happily slept there, they had so much fun.
- At the end of July we visited Butterfly World and enjoyed their very reasonably priced buffet Sunday lunch.
- A pop up #instawalk inspired us to go chasing waterfalls on Devil’s Peak which we followed up with a walk along the contour path the following weekend.
- Then it was off to Mount Ceder in August to spend a weekend away in the mountains while our new bath and toilet settled in at home.
- August ended off with a trip around Table Bay harbor on the Red Top bus’ new #HarbourCruise.
- Then there was the 1st National Instameet in Graaff Reinet over the Heritage Day long weekend only to come back and have our car written off by a truck in a parking lot in Table View.
- Finally, we visited Hermanus for the kids 8th and 11th birthdays in the hopes we could party with some whales.
- We just got back from our trip to Hermanus when it was time to see our first Military Tattoo at The Castle of Good Hope
